Police say 46 charges laid on area roads on Labour Day

Police say a driver travelling more than 200 km/h was stopped and charged on Labour Day.

Ottawa OPP and several other agencies took part in a joint traffic initiative on area roads, part of the OPP’s Labour Day long weekend traffic safety campaign.

Of the 46 charges laid, six were for stunt driving.

Police say a motorcycle rider caught travelling at 182 km/h initially fled police, but was tracked by the OPP plane.

That driver only had an M1 licence and was prohibited from driving on 400 series highways.

Drivers are reminded a stunt driving charge includes an immediate 30-day driving suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound.
