Inaugural executive director at Kemptville’s new practitioner-led clinic says team approach needed

The executive director at Kemptville’s new practitioner-led clinic says he’s excited to build the service from the ground up.

Kris Fournier was appointed to the position at the health center which is aiming to connect 6,400 area residents to primary care.

The clinic was first announced in late April and will be located on the Kemptville District Hospital campus, serving as the anchor of a broader primary care hub.

Fournier says he was a front-line paramedic with United Counties of Leeds and Grenville for 14 years, including the past few as the lead for their community program, and he says that taught him how important a holistic, no wrong-door approach, and team approach is to healthcare.

He tells the Vista Radio Newsroom they are ready to hit the ground running when the clinic opens its doors early next year.

“We’ve been very fortunate with Kemptville District Hospital and (our other partners) that we’ve actually been able to fill out our team, getting our work lows and getting our processes in place.”

Fournier says the first place place people without a family physician should look is the province’s healthcare connect registry where they can sign up.
