Health officials reminding residents to get their flu, RSV and COVID-19 vaccines

It’s that time of the year when residents are being urged to get their flu, RSV and COVID-19 vaccines.

Several health units, including Southeast Public Health, are working together to help make sure vaccines are readily available.

Ontario’s publicly funded RSV vaccine is available to all adults aged 75 and older, as well as adults aged 60 to 74 who meet certain high-risk criteria.

It’s also available for eligible infants and high-risk children, as well as during pregnancy, while many pharmacies have now received the flu and COVID-19 vaccines for their residents.

The Ministry of Health’s participating pharmacies website provides a list of pharmacies offering vaccinations across the province.

Health officials say the ongoing spread of flu, COVID-19 and RSV may cause more serious illnesses in older adults, young children, and people with weakened immune systems.

They say vaccination is one of the best ways to protect vulnerable people within our communities.
