73’s Wrap: Kemptville 73’s holding main camp this weekend

It’s another step forward toward building the Kemptville 73’s hockey team for the 2026-2027 season.

The team is holding its main camp this weekend at the North Grenville Municipal Centre and head coach Shawn Fensel says 75 players will be on the ice and trying to lock up their spot on the team.

The camp is for players born between 2006 and 2010 and will include practices, scrimmages and an all-star game on Sunday.

It’s the last time players will be able to try out ahead of the season which starts in August.

Fensel tells Moose FM that there are a few things he looks for in prospective players.

“How do the kids compete away from the puck, that’s always a big thing for me. Can they skate? Are they able to get in their and get their nose dirty a little bit.”

The camp starts on Friday night and wraps up on Sunday with the public welcome to attend.
