Rideau Canal opens up for the boating season on Friday

You can include heading out onto the Rideau Canal as part of your Victoria Day long weekend plans.

Parks Canada says the boating season on the UNESCO World Heritage site begins Friday and will continue until Thanksgiving weekend in October.

They say over one million visitors enjoy the canal every year.

The canal connects Kingston to Ottawa and you can find the hours it will be open for boaters on the Parks Canada website.

This year marks the 195th navigation season on the canal.
