North Grenville updates aid agreement with Ottawa

North Grenville and Ottawa will continue to help each other out when responding to some emergencies.

North Grenville Council passed a by-law at their regular meeting on Tuesday night authorizing Mayor Nancy Peckford and Chief Administrative Officer Karen Dunlop to enter into an agreement with the City of Ottawa for automatic aid.

Officials say the new agreement is an updated version which now states that North Grenville only responds to structure fires in the area just north of the Rideau River. The old agreement stated that the municipality responded to virtually all incidents in the scheduled area.

The partnership is reciprocal with Ottawa providing specialized rescue services for North Grenville.
