Leeds and Greenville Counties Council has greenlit its 2026 budget with a 2.46 per cent tax increase.
With a province-wide property assessment update not taking place in 2026, the median non-waterfront residential property in Leeds and Grenville remains assessed at $234,000.
It increases the portion of taxes on the property by approximately $25.95.
Director of Finance Pat Huffman tells Moose FM that the County Road 43 widening project is the focus when it comes to capital project this year.
“We’re going to be finishing up the work on the bridge and the road widening, that’s our largest capital project on the budget this year, and hopefully it will be done in late 2026 to early 2027.”
The full project will see a two-kilometre stretch of County Road 43, spanning from Colonnade Drive to County Road 44, widened to four lanes.
Officials say the united counties will collect $56.3 million from property taxpayers this year to support key services and capital investments.
They say the budget outlines total expenditures of $160.5 million, including $40.4 million dedicated to capital projects.
