North Grenville Council passes 2026 budget with two per cent tax increase

Taxes are going up just under two per cent as part of North Grenville’s 2026 municipal budget.

Officials say the finishing touches have been put on the approved budget lowering the proposed municipal tax rate increase to 1.9 per cent from 3.1 per cent.

That works out to approximately $39 annually on a home assessed at $300,000 while, officials say, it also puts funds towards major capital projects including continued improvements to Riverside Park, arena audio system upgrades at the rinks at the North Grenville Municipal Centre and a renewed parks and recreation master plan.

North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford tells Moose FM that money will also be spent as part of the County Road 43 expansion project.

“There are certain aspects of the project like lighting and trees and multi-use pathways that are our responsibility so we always have to make sure that those things are properly budgeted.”

The budget will also see funds go towards refurbishing the North Grenville Fire Services’ heavy rescue vehicle.
