Fewer of us continue to make the trek into the United States now that we are into 2026.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection data shows that, in January, there were approximately 18,000 fewer vehicle trips across the Canada-U.S. border from eastern Ontario to New York State compared to the same month a year earlier.
It marks the 12th straight month a decline has been seen in cross-border trips.
Data shows there were 14,300 trips at the Ogdensburg, New York border crossing across the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge in January.
That’s a decline from January 2025 when 19,500 journeys were recorded.
