The Hudson Family, owners of Burnbrae Farms which employs over 1,700 people in their seven wholly-owned farms, eight grading stations, three processing plants and two distribution centres located throughout Ontario and across Canada, have been awarded the inaugural Rural Champion 2026.
The recognition was part of the Rural Inspiration celebration at the Rural Ontario Municipalities Association Conference.
Burnbrae Farms is the largest family-owned and operated egg business in Canada.
“The Hudson Family is a special family that has grown their family business into a national success,” said Lisa Thompson, Ontario Minister of Rural Affairs.
“Today we recognize and thank the entire Hudson family for being rural champions.”
Founded in 1891, Burnbrae now operates in five provinces.
Operations in Ontario stretch from their homestead farm and operations in Brockville and eastern Ontario through to southwestern Ontario, including a brand-new state of the art facility in Strathroy.
Rural Inspiration was an inaugural event at the ROMA conference.
