Three males arrested and charged in string of commercial break-ins across eastern Ontario

Three people have been arrested in connection to 20 commercial break-ins across a large part of eastern Ontario.

The OPP’s East Region Street Crime Unit says the break-ins began in July and continued into September.

They say the thieves would primarily target convenience stores which had closed for the night, they would force their way inside and then take cigarettes and lottery tickets to cash.

The robberies took place in an area from Quinte West to Cornwall and Ottawa and communities in between including eight in the Leeds and Grenville region.

Police say the three male suspects were transferred to eastern Ontario on Tuesday and were formally arrested and charged with numerous offences.

The three accused remain in custody.
