They say you should keep some tips in mind including only buying from secure websites and ignoring deals from unknown emails, texts or ads.
You should also check seller reviews and ratings, enable multi-factor authentication for your accounts and use secure payment methods and monitor your statements.
If you or someone you know has been a victim of fraud, you’re asked to report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
