First financial forecast for 2025-2026 shows UCDSB is in a strong financial position

Upper Canada District School Board officials say their first financial forecast of the year shows they are in a strong position.

Trustees approved the 2025-26 budget in June with projected revenues of $470.4 million and expenses of $470 million for compliance purposes, resulting in a projected year-end surplus of $0.4 million for compliance purposes.

In an update this week, the board was told that their first financial forecast projects revenues of $472.7 million and expenses of $472.2 million for compliance purposes, resulting in a minor change to the projected in-year surplus of $0.5 million.

UCDSB Chief Business Officer and Treasurer Jeremy Hobbs says both funding levels and related expenses have changed since trustees passed the budget with the primary factor driving these changes being projected increases in enrolment.

The next formal financial forecast will be provided in January.
