If you live in Merrickville and a fire was part of your long weekend plans you’ll need to come up with another idea.
The Merrickville Fire Department has issued a full burn ban which will be in place until further notice.
That means no open burning including campfires and outdoor propane stoves are allowed with Fire Chief Brad Cole saying the dry weather and a lack of rain prompted the move.
Cole tells Moose FM that just when the ban will be lifted depends on the weather.
“We’re probably looking at a couple of weeks for sure with a ban until we get some significant rain to green things up again.”
North Grenville issued a similar fire ban earlier this week.
