Kemptville 73’s hit the ice next week

The public is invited to cheer on its local hockey team. The Kemptville 73’s home opener is set for Friday, Sept. 6, at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. The puck drops at 7:30pm. The 73’s face off against the Nepean Raiders.

“The best way to describe our team is young and fast,” says co-owner and coach Jason York. “You watch the pro game now and that trickles down to our level – hockey is really fast. The staff and I made a conscious effort to target players with speed and character.”

The 73’s are taking part in the CCHL Showcase, which is being held September 13 to 15.

“I see us as a playoff team,” noted York. “I think at the beginning there will be some mistakes because of our youth, but as the season goes on, we’re going to be a team that gets better and better.”
