Free Community Christmas Dinner set for December 25

The public is invited to the third annual Community Christmas Dinner. The event is set for December 25 at St. John’s United Church. It runs from 12 noon to 2:00pm. The meal includes turkey, ham and all the fixings. There is no cost to attend.

Volunteer Angie Mordy says anybody and everybody is welcome – the more the merrier. She says delivery is also available for people who don’t feel comfortable coming or would rather stay home.

Volunteers are also offering transportation services to people who need a lift. Accessible transportation is available.

Mordy says nothing goes to waste. She says leftovers are packaged up into meals and frozen for local churches. She says the churches hand out the meals to people who are down on their luck or just had surgery.

Around 150 people were served at the dinner last year. A total of 40 meals were delivered and another 40 were frozen. About 50 volunteers make the event possible annually.

If you would like to help out or donate towards the meal, contact Mordy directly by calling 613-223-3979 or emailing [email protected].

A donation box will be on site to collect non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army Food Bank.
