A new jail is set to be built in Ottawa.
The new facility would replace the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre and would have over 700 beds.
It’s one of two jails that were announced by Ontario’s Minister of Corrections and Community Safety Marie-France Lalonde. A smaller facility is also slated to be built in Thunder Bay.
