There have been some confirmed cases of whooping cough in the area.
The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit says it’s been notified of suspect and confirmed cases in the region. It says you should check that your child’s immunization for pertussis, or whooping cough, is up to date.
Adults can also get booster doses. Hand washing, keeping surfaces clean and staying home when sick are also good tips to keep in mind and help stop the spread of infection.
