Update: Environment Canada issues snowfall warning ahead of storm

Update: 2:02 p.m. Wednesday

Environment Canada has now issued a Yellow Warning for significant snow beginning Wednesday night.

The weather agency says a developing low pressure system will bring significant snowfall.

They say there will be a sharp temperature drop leading to cold wind chills by Thursday morning, during ongoing snowfall, will add to the adverse weather conditions.

There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic.

You’re advised to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions as well as allow extra time for travel.

It could be a messy drive ahead with another round of winter on the way.

Environment Canada says the snow will start falling late Wednesday night and we could see around 5 centimetres come down before Thursday morning.

The weather agency says more snow is in the forecast for Thursday with another 5 centimetres projected.

Some areas could see as much as 20 centimetres when the snow finally stops falling.

East Region OPP say drivers should be prepared for a potentially messy drive on Thursday morning and Thursday afternoon.

They add that if there is heavy snow in your area, and you have to be on the move, give yourself extra time, clear all the snow from your vehicle, adjust your driving and leave extra following distance.
