73’s Wrap: Kemptville welcomes new faces at 2026 CCHL Entry Draft

The Kemptville 73’s blueprint for success continues to evolve moving into next season and beyond.

Twelve new players joined the organization on Tuesday night in Ottawa when they were selected during the 2026 Central Canada Hockey League Entry Draft.

Kemptville’s selections include one goalie, three defencemen and eight forwards, with rearguard Emmett O’Neill picked first by the team at fifth overall in the opening round.

O’Neill played 32 games with the Ottawa Myers Automotive U16 AAA team this season where he had three goals and 13 assists in 32 games.

73’s General Manager Terry Nichols tells Moose FM that deciding on who the team will select is an ongoing process.

“We create a preliminary list early in the season in October after we’ve seen them all play a couple of times. Then we just keep refining that list as the season progresses.”

Nichols adds next season’s team is already coming together including a few players that the team has committed to.
