Update: South Nation Conservation lifts low water advisory

South Nation Conservation says conditions have returned to normal and their low water advisory for the region has been lifted.

SNC says in a statement that mild weather, rainfall and snow in mid-December and early January have supported continued gradual recovery across the jurisdiction.

They add that recent data they have collected indicates widespread recovery and the return to normal conditions.

A low water advisory was originally put in place in late August because of prolonged hot and dry conditions, significant precipitation deficits, and extremely low baseflow conditions.

While conditions have improved, SNC is encouraging residents and water users, particularly those relying on private wells, to continue using water efficiently to support long-term sustainability.

They add they will continue to monitor rainfall, stream flows, and water levels across the region.
