National Public Alerting System to be tested on Wednesday

Making sure that urgent warnings can be delivered in an emergency.

That’s the purpose of the testing of the Alert Ready system this Wednesday across Ontario.

Officials say it will happen at 12:55 p.m. and it will be seen and heard over wireless devices, TV and radio.

They add that the test is designed to ensure the system is functioning correctly and to remind the public of emergency preparedness.

No action is required when the test message is received, which will begin with an alert tone and state that it is a test.

It’s the second test of the system this year, with the last one taking place on May 7 during Emergency Preparedness Week.
