Police: Woman charged in connection to the illegal purchase of firearm and seizure of illegal drugs

A 34-year-old Ottawa woman faces charges in connection to the illegal purchase of a firearm and the seizure of illegal drugs.

East Region OPP say an individual, whose possession and acquisition licence for firearms had been revoked for public safety reasons, was in possession of an illegally purchased shotgun.

Police say the suspect turned themself in to the OPP on Thursday and a search warrant was executed later that day at a residence on Morningmist Way in Ottawa.

Office located the firearm, which was not secured, according to investigators, as well as ammunition and a quantity of suspected meth.

The woman has been charged with offences including careless storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Brockville early next month.

Police tell Moose FM that the case has ties to North Grenville but they can’t identify what those are at this time.
