North Grenville following advisory from Rideau Valley Water Response Team

North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says the municipality is responding to the direction given by the Rideau Valley Water Response Team.

Earlier this week, the team declared a Level 3 Low Water Advisory for the Rideau Valley Watershed because of rainfall deficits falling below 40% of the long-term average.

Peckford says North Grenville is following the advisory by assessing static levels of municipal wells which, to date, have not been affected and have ample supply of water.

She adds they are also encouraging residents to alert the municipality in regards to any private wells going dry while also continuing to monitor the flow of municipal water pumping stations.

Peckford says the new Riverside Splash Pad uses a recirculating water system, which significantly reduces overall water consumption.

However, they are actively monitoring the non-recirculating splash pad located within Equinelle, as it draws fresh water continuously.

If necessary, she says they may have to temporarily shutdown the Equinelle splash pad during the drought period to help reduce water usage.
