Annual “Canoe Poker Run” fundraiser for Spencerville Mill returns May 28th

An event supporting the Spencerville Mill and Museum might be the excuse you’re looking for to get out on the water.

Staff at the mill are organizing its annual “Canoe Poker Run,” a fundraiser for kayak and canoe enthusiasts to enjoy a morning on the South Nation River and a barbecue.

Registration for the event costs $25 for adults, or $10 for anyone 12 years old or younger. That fee includes a free drink and food from a barbecue at the event.

All proceeds are going towards the Spencerville Mill Foundation, the volunteer group that runs the museum and maintains the mill.

If you’re interested in taking part, you’re being asked to bring your own boat, if you can. Some canoes are available for people who don’t have their own to bring, but you’ll need to contact the organizers in advance to reserve one.

The event is scheduled for May 28th, at 9:00 AM, starting at O’Hagen’s Bridge on County Road 18. The barbecue lunch is happening at 12:00 at the mill.

To see how to register or reserve a canoe, visit the Spencerville Mill and Museum website.
