This Sunday (September 20th) is the Terry Fox Virtual Run for the 40th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope.
Steve Paterson, one of the run’s committee members, says on Tuesday night Mayor Nancy Peckford and some council members raised a Terry Fox flag outside of the municipal centre. Paterson explains this was done to show support and that the spirit of Terry Fox is alive and well in the community. The flag will be flown at this location into next week.
The run to raise funds for cancer research will be done differently this year. Paterson says the slogan is “One Day. Your Way.” Participants can choose their own location and distance for the run. Paterson adds another way to take part is to make a donation.
Paterson says we are all going through a different time in our lives with the pandemic and funds might be short compared to past years but cancer doesn’t stop and no donation is too small.
