Regan Stevenson took home a bronze medal in badminton from the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA). The championship was held in Brockville on April 24.
Stevenson, a North Grenville District High School student, entered the tournament as second seed from the Leeds Grenville Secondary School Athletic Association championship. She lost in the semifinals at EOSSAA to the player who eventually won gold.
Stevenson says she went in with the mindset of trying her best and seeing what happens. She says people who went to EOSSAA last year told her the competition was tough.
Stevenson says she was surprised by the win. She says she looked at her coach, Cathy Parent, and asked whether it was real.
The grade 12 student says she finished her high school badminton career on a high note.
