Local duo gets ready to tap for charity

Two locals are taking part in Dancing Stars of Leeds Grenville. The event is in support of the Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence-Rideau. Diana Fisher and Robert Noseworthy have raised about $1,300 so far.

Fisher says it’s a fun way to raise dollars for essential services, including tax programs for low-income people and the Leeds & Grenville Interval House.

The pair is performing a tap number after weeks of practising with choreographer Nancy Morgan, owner of the Workshop Dance Studio.

A showcase is set for Sunday at the studio. It runs from 2:00 to 4:00pm and donations will be accepted at the door. The main show is happening on March 1 at the Thousand Islands Secondary School, beginning at 6:00pm.

Noseworthy says it’s important to support local services. He says the tax program found about $200,000 worth of refunds for the vulnerable population last year.

There are seven pairs participating in this year’s Dancing Stars event. The three teams that raise the most will move on to the finals.
