Heritage Symposium unites history and innovation

Where history, heritage and innovation meet. The third annual Heritage Symposium is set for May 4 at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. The event is organized by the Heritage Advisory Committee, which works to promote and preserve local heritage.

The symposium will consist of four presenters, including local resident Gary Courville who owns the G. Howard Ferguson House in Kemptville.

North Grenville’s planner Phil Mosher says Courville’s journey to get heritage shingles for his home is interesting.

In the end, Courville – a machinist by trade – decided to make his own shingles. The other presenters include Erin Semande and Robert Pajot, both of Heritage Trust, and Ryan Leary who is the heritage planner for the City of Kingston. Mosher says he will talk about designating places of faith.

The cost is $20 per person and includes a catered lunch. To register, go to eventbrite.com and type in Heritage Symposium.
