KDH spreads the word about innovative Parkinson’s program

The Kemptville District Hospital is spreading the word about it’s innovative Parkinson’s program. April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month and the hospital wants to get the word out about a unique exercise and movement group that meets weekly.

The group focuses on strengthening and balancing exercises. Last year, the hospital moved the program into a dance studio – made possible by a new partnership with The Workshop Dance Studio. The new location means no more waiting list to get into the program.

Parkinson’s affects the body’s movement. Common symptoms include slowness, stiffness and impaired balance. Symptoms can be managed with medication, counselling and exercise.

The group meets every Wednesday at 1 p.m. To join, call 613-258-6133 extension 136.
