Civic Award Nominations Are Now Being Accepted By the Municipality of North Grenville

The Municipality of North Grenville is accepting applications for their 2018 Civic Awards.

Director of Corporate Services Cahl Pominville says there is the potential for around 30 awards, depending on the number of nominations. There are eight categories for volunteers to be nominated in and then four groups divide up nominees. There is a group section, as well as three age groups. Individuals nominated will be broken down into 25 years or younger, 26 to 55 and 56 or older.

Pominville says they’re looking for outstanding volunteers that help their community in the categories including heritage, environment, seniors and youth. Awards are only given out if there are nominations put forward in the particular category.

North Grenville will also once more be presenting an Exemplary Citizenship Award to students that worked hard for their school and community. These recipients are selected by the principles from local schools and the award was introduced last year as part of the Canada 150 Student Awards.

Pominville said 2017 winners included Patrick Babin, Paul Rochon and Mary-Anne Leang. He also remembered times in the past the Kemptville Snowmobile Club and Rotary Club had been selected.
Nomination packages can be picked up from the Municipal Centre or Public Libraries, both Kemptville and Burritts Rapids branches. Nomination forms can also be found on the municipality’s website. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday April 27th.
