Leeds Grenville and Lanark Residents Believe They Have a Strong Community

The Health Unit says most residents of Leeds, Grenville and Lanark believe they live in a great community.

Public Health Nurse with the Health Unit Tanis Brown says in a recent survey 71 per cent of those polled said they had a strong sense of community. According to the Health Unit this can be important to overall health.

Brown says having a support system you can lean on helps in a number of ways. The encouragement of friends or family can be motivation to make it through tough times and positive social interaction can help make you feel respected or cared for.

Brown says the community is filled with groups that promote social support and a list can be found on their website.
