Construction on the Lower Nicholson Wharf is Drawing to a Close

Parks Canada has announced construction is finished on the Lower Nicholsons Wharf.

Work on the Rideau Canal National Historic Site finished up last week with the completion of a concrete deck and backfilling. The contractor is moving off site now but is expected back in April to restore the site by putting down new sod and levelling the parking lot.

According to Parks Canada the new wharf is built like the old one, with a gabion stone foundation and timber cribbing supports. They add that it matches the look of the Nicholsons Lockstation and will be the point of access for future generations.
