North Grenville not done with Angus Seed Plant

The Municipality of North Grenville isn’t done talking about the Angus Seed Plant closure.

During this week’s Council meeting a request to further discuss this matter with the premier was approved. Councillors raised a number of concerns surrounding the sale including a lack of public consultation and insufficient analysis on how closing the seed plant will affect Ontario communities.

Some other issues are a belief that the private sector cannot undertake the significant challenge of keeping Ontario forests growing and that it seriously constrains the private sector grower’s ability to follow government seed policy.

The municipality also believes the move is being made too quickly and does not allow them to develop alternate methods to obtain seed. The plant is scheduled to be closed be September of 2018.
