Mayor David Gordon release statement on North Grenville Times article

The Mayor of North Grenville is setting the record straight.

At this week’s council meeting Mayor David Gordon called statements in an article written by the North Grenville Times about the Kemptville Campus sale “unsubstantiated” and “out of context”. The November 22nd article said “a local firm representing investors who manage a humanitarian fund” was involved in discussions to acquire the property. Mayor Gordon stated that the Council and CAO have both been clear, transparent and on the record when providing details of the negotiations.

Mayor Gordon added that no attempt was made to confirm the statement was true by either the newspaper or author. He finished by saying the municipality always welcomes any and all expressions of interest that are aligned with their mission to develop the Kemptville Campus.

In an email sent to Director of Corporate Services Cahl Pominvivlle the Editor of the North Grenville Times, Dr. David Shanahan, said the mayor’s statement was inaccurate and irrelevant to the article. He added that the mayor showed amazing arrogance to think North Grenville should have been consulted and claimed the Chief Administrative Officer was responsible for the Mayor’s opinion on the matter.
