The 12 Days of Holiday Fire and CO Safety is back.
Fire departments across Ontario have announced they will be continuing the educational campaign. Starting December 7th the public is encouraged to listen for the fire safety tip of the day. The listener that calls the station back, and repeat the safety tip correctly, receives one of 12 prize packages.
Some of the safety tips include watering fresh trees daily so they don’t dry out, giving space to space heaters and encouraging smokers to do so outside.
According to fire prevention officers there is often an increase in fires and fire related injuries during the holidays and they encourage you to check your smoke and CO alarms to ensure they are working properly.
