Health Unit helping parents with nutritional information for their children

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is promoting a no-cost questionnaire that covers the diet and exercise of small children.

The NutriSTEP questionnaire covers children’s eating, physical activity and screen time habits. The Health Unit says it’s a quick and easy way to ensure a child living a healthy lifestyle. The questionnaire takes less than ten minutes to complete and offers personalized information based on the results.

NutriSTEP has tips and tools for subjects like; healthy eating, meal planning, cooking, physical activity and eating out, to name just a few.

Registered Dietitian Dana Hawthorne says it’s important to teach children the importance of eating health because we establish our eating habits at an early age and food choices affect a child’s growth and development.
