Port Day is coming

Two very special, very large guests will be stopping at the Port of Johnstown this weekend to help celebrate Port Day.

Saturday June 10th will mark the second annual Port Day at the Port of Johnstown. Joining all the local merchants will be the Canadian Coast Guard vessel Corporal Teather and the Canadian Navy ship HMCS Goose Bay. The doors open at 11:30 and will be followed by speeches at noon. There will be narrated tours of both boats on Saturday and Sunday, as well as guided tours of the harbour front dock and public wharf. Draws will be held throughout the event, with the winners being granted VIP access to the grain elevator, while farm equipment and trucks will also be on display.

Port Day will also host; the Giant Tiger Train, an archery trailer hosted by the Grenville Fish and Game Club and an activity centre for children with games and prizes so there should truly be something for every member of the family. There will also be a free BBQ, with any donations made being given to the food bank. The Chesterville band Sons of Gord will be providing live entertainment.
