Funding promise to KDH expected to be spread over extra years

The funding for Kemptville District Hospital from the municipality is about to be spread out over a few more years.

At Monday’s North Grenville Committee of the Whole meeting, it was announced that KDH CEO Frank Vassallo and the municipality discussed the idea of spreading the amount owing to the hospital over seven years instead of four.

That amount of $720,000 will now come in installments of $100,000 for the next six years, with a final payment of $120,000 in 2023.

CAO Brian Carré says one of the reasons for this is the reduction in provincial transfer payments. He says we’re facing large reductions and this makes the amounts easier to swallow within the annual budgets in coming years.

North Grenville Council will vote on the change Monday.
