Shop Local Showcase brings over 1,500 visitors to Kemptville

Hundreds lined up outside the door. That was the scene at the Shop Local Showcase this past Saturday, which attracted over 1,500 visitors to Kemptville. People from across the region, including Ottawa, Brockville and Morrisburg, stopped by the event. Organizer Anne Eves Kotlarchuk says the line starting forming at 8 a.m.

The free helmets being handed out by the municipality were a huge draw for people. By 1 p.m., only toddler helmets were up for grabs. Kotlarchuk says the live demonstrations by local businesses were also a hit.

Kemptville 73’s mascot Terrence the Panther and Sparky the Fire Dog even tried out pole dancing at the event. The Shop Local Showcase is held annually on the fourth Saturday of April.
