The House of Lazarus, Community Food Share and Winchester BMR have partnered to make houses a little warmer this winter. Heat for the Holidays provides local food bank clients with a month’s supply of wood. Last year, the program delivered 10 loads of Eco-Energy Logs.
Linking Hands Coordinator Sandy Casselman says the need is great. She says some clients don’t have heat on at all and are wearing their coats, hats and mitts indoors to stay warm.
The program relies on donations. A week’s supply of Eco-Energy Logs costs $63 or $252 for a month’s supply.
Casselman says BMR is a big supporter of the program. The business supplies the logs at a discounted price and donates some of the wood.
