Local school crushes pop tab goal

Holy Cross Catholic School set out to fill 70 coffee tins with pop tabs. The student council launched a pop tab drive in support of Mya Jackson.

The grade six student was diagnosed with NF2 (Neurofibromatosis), which causes tumours to grow in the nervous system. Jackson will eventually lose mobility and require a wheelchair to get around.

Mission for Mya started collecting pop tabs this summer and hopes to get enough for a wheelchair.

The pop tab drive ran throughout the month of November. The school filled 142 tins, totalling approximately 298,200 pop tabs.

The entire student body was rewarded for their efforts with a movie and licorice party earlier this week.
