Mission for Mya collecting pop tabs

A local family is putting out a call for pop tabs. Mission for Mya is collecting them to get a wheelchair for Mya Jackson. The 10-year-old Holy Cross Catholic School student was diagnosed with NF2 (Neurofibromatosis). The disorder affects one in 30,000 people and causes tumours to grow in the nervous system.

Tanya Lamarache, Mya’s mom, says she recently got a prosthetic brace to help with mobility.

She noted the collection is going well. Lamarche says the family has tubs full of tabs and neighbours are getting on board to help out.

People who want to contribute can drop off pop tabs at Krown Kemptville.

Lamarche says the initiative is also about raising awareness for NF2.
