Nominations open for 2025 Thake Award

There are only four weeks left to nominate a leader for the 2025 Thake Award.

The Leeds Grenville Economic Development Office is inviting individuals, municipal councils, and economic development committees to submit nominations for the annual Bill Thake Memorial Award for Economic Development Leadership.

Introduced in 2011, this annual award, also called the Warden’s Award, recognizes and celebrates a volunteer who has shown outstanding commitment and leadership resulting in the growth and vitality of the Leeds Grenville economy.

Thake, who died in 2013, was recognized as being the longest-serving mayor in Canada, serving as reeve/mayor of Westport for 44 years. He also served four terms as warden.

The deadline for submissions is Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. and the winner will be announced prior to the Economic Development Summit and officially honoured at the event on Nov. 21.

More information can be found on the Leeds Grenville Economic Development website.
