Nearly $120,000 for maple syrup coming to our area

Thousands of dollars in government funds are being invested into expanding maple syrup production in our region.

The provincial and federal governments have announced a $118,966 investment in seven maple syrup producers in the Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes riding.

The money comes from the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

According to the announcement, the money will go towards purchasing new equipment for all seven producers.

MPP Steve Clark says he’s happy to see the partnership benefit our community. “By supporting our maple syrup producers in this way, we’re working to help them tap into their potential to grow their businesses,” he adds.

MP Michael Barrett agrees, saying he’s proud to welcome the additional support for the “world-class work” they do.

More than $1-million is being provided to 77 maple syrup producers in Ontario through the investment.
