Winchester District Memorial Hospital buys new equipment worth $31,000+

Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) Foundation staff say they have four new reasons to be thankful for donors.

The hospital has purchased two new “workplace on wheels” units, computers that can be moved anywhere in the hospital to help with patient care.

Workers also say the hospital recently bought a new hysteroscope, a tool gynecologists use for some exams and surgeries, and a blanket warmer for the Operating Room.

The total cost for the new equipment comes to $31,394.91, all paid for by donations to WDMH’s General Equipment Fund.

“Many people are surprised to learn that the provincial government does not fund the purchase of medical equipment for Ontario hospitals,” says WDMH Foundation Managing Director Kristen Casselman. “To help ensure that WDMH has the right tools to provide excellent health care for our patients, the Foundation works with donors who care about WDMH and who want to make an impact.”

Casselman and the rest of her team are thanking everyone who has donated to the fund.
