Mayor, council attend ROMA conference

Affordable housing, paramedic services, family health teams and access to childcare.

Those were some of the key priorities Mayor Nancy Peckford discussed with provincial officials at the annual Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference.

Peckford attended the conference this week alongside her colleagues from municipal council.

Her team met with the Minister of Transportation and the Parliamentary Assistants to the Ministers of Health and Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

“We seized the opportunity to highlight the pressing needs for hospice beds in our community, increased funding to support North Grenville’s newly launched municipal-wide transit system, and investments in the modernization of the Ferguson Forest Tree Nursery,” Peckford says.

Deputy Mayor John Barclay says the event was time well spent and gave council fresh perspectives to think about, and is thanking everyone who attended and organized the conference.
