Southgate Church to receive $3k for public rink; other committees denied additional funding

Some North Grenville committees had to go away empty-handed after staff tightened purse strings in order to achieve a balanced budget. Treasurer Sheila Kehoe explained that Kemptville District Little League will have to do their own fundraising to improve Riverside Park, as the municipality gave quite a bit to fix up Diamond 3 in South Gower Park and there isn’t room in the budget this year.

The North Grenville Splash Pad Committee will also have to take no for an answer. The municipality has plans to take over operations of the splash pad in the eQuinelle subdivision, however, and that will be open to the public.

The Dandelion Festival Committee, after making a request for $15,000, will have to settle for the same amount as last year: a $2,000 grant and $3,700 in kind for staff and barricades.

It was good news, however, for Southgate Community Church. They will receive $3,000 to start work on a public skating rink.
