Ferguson Forest Centre Corporation Excited For Summer Season

As the weather warms, the Ferguson Forest Centre continues to ready itself for summer.

The trails remain open to the public for continued enjoyment, as is the dog park, and arboretum, but residents are once again reminded to abide by public health guidelines due to COVID-19.

Vice President for the Ferguson Forest Centre Corporation Wes Herring says if trail-users see any hazards such as fallen trees – there’s a new way to report them.

“We have a new trail condition reporting system that was developed by the Friends of the Ferguson Forest Centre,” Herring said. “So generally, because it’s been dry and warm, the trails are in good shape and they’re being well-used.”

Thanks to some new programs coming out for the sale of trees and seedlings, Herring says they’re looking at potentially expanding.

The corporation is also working with North Grenville to look at trail standards, possible new signage, and where they can improve public access to the property.

He says there will also be job opportunities available for anyone looking for work this summer.

“We do have opportunities at the nursery,” he said. “We’re always looking for staff, it’s farm type work, and if people are looking for work, they just need to reach out. We think it’s a great place to be.”

For more information on opportunities with the Centre, you can contact Herring.
