The Leeds Grenville District Health Unit is warning of a significant rise in COVID-19 in areas close to Ottawa.

They have reported 41 new cases in Leeds and Grenville East, with Kemptville and Carleton Place experiencing the greatest increase in new infections. They also say that 34% of new cases in the area are variants of concern.

The Unit is asking people in the workplace to have a well-fitted, two or three-layer mask as well as eye protection. They also urge workers to avoid car-pooling and to leave plenty of room for others in break rooms, as they remind residents that there are no social bubbles for coworkers. Meanwhile, they are urging residents to not travel outside the region, avoid all social gatherings, and pay attention to symptoms as allergy season begins. The unit asks people to note any change in their usual seasonal symptoms, like headache, sore throat, congestion, fatigue, fever, diarrhea and loss of taste or smell.
